Established in 2022, LIV Ventures extends LIV Development’s mission through strategic partnerships with organizations and individuals to improve lives and strengthen communities. Since its inception, LIV Ventures partnered with the Harris Family Investors to invest in and support the development and construction of Longleaf Wellness and Recovery centers across Alabama, established New Day Car Wash, and most recently, brought the Bitty & Beau’s Coffee franchise to Birmingham.

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee is a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop. Since 2016, the North Carolina-based company has advocated for the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2021, only 19.1% of people with a disability were employed compared to 63.7% of people without a disability. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee is combating this statistic by creating unique employment opportunities in an inclusive and empowering environment.

As the franchise owner and operator, LIV Ventures extended job offers to 33 applicants, surprising some employees during Bitty & Beau’s signature “Surprise Hire” events and others during an Apron Ceremony at Homewood Central Park. Watch a recap of the hiring celebrations here.

In addition to overseeing the shop’s operations, LIV Ventures worked with valuable trade partners to transform the former Valley Cleaners building into a modern and cozy coffee shop. Duncan and Thompson, Nequette Architecture & Design, Dentons Sirote, Lorberbaum McNair, and Homewood City Council are just a few of the partners who played a significant role in the project’s development.

After much anticipation, the new coffee shop celebrated its Grand Opening on November 11 and has already seen tremendous success.

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Birmingham is located at 1625 Oxmoor Road across from Homewood Central Park and is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
