Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop, has partnered with LIV Ventures to open its second Alabama location in Birmingham early Fall 2023.
Since 2016, the North Carolina-based brand has advocated for the value, acceptance, and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2021, only 19.1% of people with a disability were employed compared to 63.7% of people without a disability. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee is combating this statistic by creating unique employment opportunities in an inclusive and empowering environment.
With 23 shops across 12 states and over 400 employees, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee has quickly grown to become a nationally recognized and loved brand. The franchise opened its first Alabama location in Auburn last August.
LIV Ventures, a subsidiary of LIV Development, is proud to franchise Bitty & Beau’s Birmingham location, with plans already underway. The Birmingham shop is expected to open early Fall 2023 at 1625 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. The former Valley Cleaners building will be beautifully transformed by Nequette Architecture & Design. Located across from Homewood Central Park, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee will be within walking distance of surrounding eateries, Downtown Homewood, and Edgewood.
“We’ve already received incredible feedback from the community,” said Robb Crumpton, LIV’s chief executive officer. “People are excited to welcome Bitty & Beau’s to Birmingham and LIV Ventures is honored to be part of that process.”
A job fair is planned in the coming months for potential employees with or without disabilities. To learn more about Bitty & Beau’s or how you can get involved, please click here.
