The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of LIV and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to support and achieve overall financial objectives. This role provides strategic direction in managing budgets, maintaining financial records, forecasting, key performance indicators (KPIs), compliance, and financial reporting. This role also contributes to developing financial strategies, assisting with project dispositions, assisting with ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and overseeing LIV’s overall risk management programs. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and manages members of the Accounting and Finance department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Accounting and Finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Oversee the monthly budgeting and financial statement reporting process for LIV and the investment entities across LIV’s portfolio
  • Ensure accuracy of financial systems and ledgers, including month-end and year-end close processes
  • Oversee tax reporting process across LIV’s portfolio in coordination with external tax advisors
  • Oversee lender compliance reporting and communication
  • Oversee investor accounting, reporting and certain financial communications
  • Develop and maintain investment waterfall models and track investment returns
  • Direct involvement in project disposition process and financial modeling thereof
  • Maintain financial forecasts, liquidity analysis, and monitor budgets
  • Collaborate with asset management, construction, development, and acquisition teams to align financial reporting with project performance
  • Manage KPI compilation and strategic analysis reporting to leadership team
  • Contribute to development of new accounting processes, controls, and systems to safeguard company assets and mitigate risks
  • Oversee the coordination of insurance programs and risk management process
  • Collaborating with executive management to guide strategic decision-making with financial insights and analysis.
  • Collaborating with CFO to handle all banking relationships and project debt process
  • Assist with special projects and analysis as needed

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification or Financial Certifications strongly considered
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, real estate or investment industry experience a plus
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and executive management
  • Exceptional decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in corporate finance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and dependability
